Building A Future For Rural Communities In Uganda Projects
Masaka town, nestled on the banks of Lake Victoria, will play host to Uganda’s second ever International Marathon but, more importantly, will come together as a community to decide their future. Led by CHEDRA & supported by Shauku Foundation the town has the chance to become an incubator of change that can act as a blueprint for all developing towns across East Africa.
I am fundraising to develop this community, this town. All the funds you donate will go directly to the project I’ve selected to raise for: no admin fees, no UK office just your generosity having an immediate impact. You will know exactly where the money has gone, what it has achieved and how the people of Masaka town have benefitted from it. It’s charity in it’s rawest form: sustainable, measurable, flexible and community-led (Oh, it’s also brimming with love!)
We are focusing on four areas of development in Masaka town. They are:
Shauku Foundation sources grassroots projects to ensure that more kids are benefitting from superb education. When you educate a child you give them a future, you offer an opportunity to break the chains of poverty and to provide for themselves and their own. Uganda’s future is one of untold potential - with half the population under 15 I am raising to ensure this is the generation that drives change and development across this amazing nation. Sustainable healthcare is pretty hard to sort out, just look at our own NHS here! Our team is working alongside local authorities and NGOs to provide exactly that, sustainable healthcare with the clear mantra “prevention is better than the cure”. Whilst we support those amazing people who tend to the ill we are directing our focus right at the very root of the problem. Giving at it’s most basic and necessary. Water is simply the source of all life and yet 8m in Uganda do not have access to clean, drinkable water. So many of the underlying health issues could be tackled by giving people the access they require. So let’s do just that. Brilliantly simple, Marvellously important. I could recite a cliche about fishing lessons here - but I’ll not be doing that. Basically, Uganda is absolutely chock-block with incredible young people looking to build their own businesses. By developing these businesses with coaching and capital, we can build business leaders in the community - pillars of society who can instigate change from bottom up. We have projects to push talented guys and girls to develop their ideas into profitable businesses. It makes for a super exciting future!
