A climbing challenge for all levels. Either learn how to rock climb, or improve your technique, at the impressive crags in the picturesque Todra gorge. Enjoy the journey through the Atlas Mountains and some pretty spectacular roads and mountain passes, and get to know the area through exciting activities.
Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech and spend the night at a traditional riad
You can arrive at anytime to Marrakech airport where you will be met with a transfer into the city. Marrakech is a bustling mercantile city where your Morrocan adventure will start and finish. Its iconic Jamaa Fna square is bursting with storytellers, snake charmers, artisan markets, and a range of shopping stalls. The first stop will be at your traditional riad in the centre of the medina, or the city's old town. A riad - traditional building in southern Morocco, a large two-story house built around a courtyard. In the evening, once all the group members have arrived, you'll gather at the riad with your guide to discuss your upcoming adventure. Night: Riad in Marrakech.
Day 2: Head to the stunning Todra Gorge
The journey begins by crossing the majestic Atlas Mountains. The drive takes you through breathtaking unspoilt landscapes and isolated villages. The Tizi N’Tichka Pass is the highest mountain pass in North Africa, reaching 2,260 metres above sea level, and links the Marrakech Plains to the Sahara Desert. After a lunch stop at Tichka, you’ll continue driving towards the remote Todra gorge. Arrive to the gorge in the afternoon, with enough time to get familiar with the area before climbing begins. Day 3-4: Two days rock climbing the beautiful Todra Gorge
In the early morning, we'll begin our rock climbing training/guided session with the guidance of excellent certified climbing guides, familiar with the area. Led by Julio Soares, an expert climber who has set many of the routes in the gorges. For the confident climbers amongst you, you will be guided on where to climb according to your interest. If you need to learn then no problems. Our climbing instructors will give you all the guidance you need on how to start, and have an amazing rock climbing experience. After lunch, theres the option to keep climbing/training, take a break, or take on one of the many activities available. Among others, trek to the salt mines where the mineral has been extracted for centuries, or exploring the beautiful surrounding area. In the evening, time to return to our guesthouse for a local dinner and a well-earned rest. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner (both days) Nights: Guesthouse in Todra gorge.
Day 5: Return to explore Marrakech, stop at an Ancient Ksar
The last day of travel, time to head back to Marrakech early in the morning so that there's ample time to enjoy the city. Explore the ancient medina, wander the narrow meandering streets, and visit the famous market square, Jemaa el Fna. En route back to the city, we stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified city that has appeared in many films, and a routine stop for merchants that travelled on the Trans-Saharan trade route. A comfortable riad in the city's medina will be our lodging for the evening. Meals: Breakfast Night: Riad in Marrakech.
Day 6: The trip ends in Marrakech
Breakfast will be served at the riad on this final day of the tour. There will be transfers to the airport arranged according to flight schedules. Meals: Breakfast
